Speech & language difficulties

Jack – Age 10

Before

“Jack was struggling with sensory issues that impacted on his reading, language, listening, games and interaction with peers”

After

“After just six months on Edutherapy sound sensitivity was no longer observed and four years on, Jack’s tactile sensitivity has also improved. Even more pleasing are his new love of reading and much improved spelling (his reading and spelling ages are now over 2 years above his chronological age…his increased enjoyment in maths, science and DT have improved his self-esteem”

“A rather anxious Jack joined the Edutherapy programme in Year 6 and at the time he was preparing for his transfer into secondary school. This was a rather overwhelming time for Jack. He was struggling with sensory issues that impacted on his reading, language, listening, games and interaction with peers….

After just six months on Edutherapy sound sensitivity was no longer observed and  four years on, Jack’s tactile sensitivity has also improved. Even more pleasing are his new love of reading and much improved spelling (his reading and spelling ages are now over 2 years above his chronological age).

Jack’s academic progress has continued to improve and his increased enjoyment in maths, science and DT have improved his self-esteem. Jack has also experienced improvements in his sporting ability – bowling more accurately in cricket and enjoying football, table-tennis and water-polo. Jack’s friendship circle has widened although his language difficulties still make teenage banter difficult for him.”

Alex – Age 13

Before
  • Speech & language difficulties
  • Very slow to read and write
  • Problems with maths
After

“Alex…is above the year average (67%) with a score of 71%… From Foundation maths to this! . . .He is really delighted.. . I have also noticed an increase in the speed of progress in many areas”

“Alex left for secondary school with several Gorilla Tags sewed discreetly into various parts of his uniform, including his PE trainers. There were bumps along the way, but overall the transition went more smoothly than I dared hope for. I have also noticed an increase in the speed of progress in many areas.

Alex has done pretty well in geography and French. But wait – who is above the class average (62%) and the year average (67%) with a score of 71%? Yes he is. From Foundation maths to this. He is really delighted. He is now beginning to recognise exam stress and will say he feels excited.”

Bea – Age 4

Before
  • Developmental delay
  • Speech & language difficulties
After

“Bea has been on the programme for less than 3 months but there has been a lot of progress in language skills. . . She now talks quite a lot, openly and confidently, which is a huge change.”

“Bea has been on the programme for less than 3 months but there has been a lot of progress in language skills. She can say far more of her sounds properly now and her vocabulary is increasing. She has also made a couple of ‘proper’ friends at school and can talk about what happened in the school day too. She is doing phonics and getting a grasp, but it is slow. She now talks quite a lot, openly and confidently, which is a huge change.”
