Emotional and Behavioural Issues

Molly – Age 10

Before

“my daughter just was a ‘difficult’ child . . on the way to school my daughter said, “I don’t want to do this anymore. I don’t want to be alive”

After

“Recently the school selected five students to attend a very special event for future leaders, she was selected to attend because of her leadership qualities. She is a member of MENSA. . . all the tantrums and drama that we dealt with on a daily basis before we started the programme are a dim and distant memory”

“What I was observing was that my daughter was just a ‘difficult’ child. In particular, she was finding it hard to get organised and ready for school in the mornings. This had escalated to such a point, just before getting onto the programme, that on one occasion, having finally got out of the house and on the way to school my daughter said, “I don’t want to do this anymore. I don’t want to be alive”.

If we now move the clock forward by three years. My daughter is now in year 8 and has made the transition to senior school incredibly smoothly. She gets herself up and ready for school without any problems. Recently the school selected five students to attend a very special event for future leaders, she was selected to attend because of her leadership qualities. She is a member of MENSA.

Looking back I almost cannot recognise the story I have written above as being the same child. She is a teenager and yet all the tantrums and drama that we dealt with on a daily basis before we started the programme are a dim and distant memory.”

Grace – Age 9

Before

“There were so many things that weren’t working for our daughter. . . Grace had difficulties with attachment, anxiety, trauma and sensory processing . . . she would physically attack both my husband and myself, sometimes several times a day. . We would see improvements in some areas using other therapies, but the progress wouldn’t be sustained.”

After

“Grace is now calmer, happier, can think more clearly and her behaviour is far more age appropriate. Grace is unrecognisable from where she was two and a half years ago . . She has caught up at school in many areas and is even ahead in her reading age”

“We found out about Jane in 2014 from a friend who had two adopted children.  We were seeking …help with our daughter who came to live with us when she 2 years 9 months. She’s now 11.5 and we came to Jane for an assessment when Grace was nearly 9.00.

There were so many things that weren’t working for our daughter … Dressing and mealtimes were very challenging.  At school she found it difficult to concentrate, to hold a pencil correctly and was behind with reading, writing and especially maths.   Friendships were tricky. At home she was extremely bad tempered and would physically attack both my husband and myself, sometimes several times a day.  Overall Grace had difficulties with attachment, anxiety, trauma and sensory processing.  We would see improvements in some areas using other therapies, but the progress wouldn’t be sustained.

After more than two years of using the programme our lives are very different…..Grace is now calmer, happier, can think more clearly and her behaviour is far more age appropriate. She has caught up at school in many areas and is even ahead in her reading age, though Maths is still a challenge…. We have blips of course, but overall Grace is unrecognisable from where she was two and a half years ago.”

Hannah – Age 12

Before

“Two years ago this autumn our 11 year old daughter suffered extreme anxiety that prevented her from being able to attend school. . . . .It was evident how deeply rooted her anxiety was and that there was no quick fix to be had. ”

After

“Employing the Gorilla Tag system had a remarkable effect on my daughter and helped other members of the household, restoring harmony and balance…Fairly quickly it had a calming effect on our daughter that opened doors of communication. . .From the first day of the spring term 2015, she was back in school full time and has only missed one day over the last 18 months.”

“Two years ago this autumn our 11 year old daughter suffered extreme anxiety that prevented her from being able to attend school…. Employing the Gorilla Tag system had a remarkable effect on my daughter and helped other members of the household, restoring harmony and balance…

It was evident how deeply rooted her anxiety was and that there was no quick fix to be had. I contacted Jane, who was wonderfully down to earth, understanding and immensely reassuring. I completed Jane’s very thorough diagnostic questionnaire and we started my daughter on the Gorilla Tag programme within a week.

Fairly quickly it had a calming effect on our daughter that opened doors of communication….With the new support she started to build up her school attendance, from part of a lesson, to a couple of lessons, to full mornings and apart from the occasional blip, she went from strength to strength. From the first day of the spring term 2015, she was back in school full time and has only missed one day over the last 18 months, genuinely off sick.”

“She stays after school for several clubs and now has lots of friends. She was one of only four in her year group to perform in the school play – in an auditorium which had traumatic memories!”

“Nancy is definitely more relaxed so far this term and enjoying school. She is doing really well with her athletics too, coming 3rd in the county cross country championships last week!  From feeling nervous and apprehensive every day about routine challenges, she has transformed back into a more carefree, happy girl again.”

William – Age 12

  • Emotional & behavioural difficulties
  • Poor reader

“William…is always in the newsletter as one of the top ten pupils. This is such a turnaround given his previous “naughty behaviour.”

“William is in his second term at the new school and is always in the newsletter as one of the top ten pupils. This is such a turnaround given his previous “naughty behaviour”.  I am so proud of him. He has been selected for the boys’ choir and has a lovely singing voice.  He is doing well at football too.  He tries so hard and has incredible passion and discipline.”
