Literacy Skills and Maths

Sam - Age 8

Before
“When he started there was huge stress around any form of work … home was fraught with fear over homework…”
After

“I have seen such natural but incredible results.. .  Every day he was improving and that was so reassuring and eased my worry immensely. . . . Sam has really rocketed in his work now. . . We are having a shot at going for academically great schools that would have been out of the question a year ago. His future is looking really bright, he is content and so happy.”

“Sam has been on the programme for over a year now and I have seen such natural but incredible results. When he started there was huge stress around any form of work. At school he was diligent and always trying incredibly hard but came home utterly exhausted…

I started to notice after 6 months of the programme that he was not over reacting to homework. He could settle down more easily to do it….and generally he was starting to become more relaxed in life….Every day he was improving and that was so reassuring and eased my worry immensely.

Sam has really rocketed in his work now. His confidence has really grown and his attitude to learning has completely changed. Sam’s creative side is growing naturally and with strength and confidence and he is starting to branch out even further in this field now…We are having a shot at going for academically great schools that would have been out of the question a year ago. His future is looking really bright, he is content and so happy. Learning with him now is a pleasure not a chore.”

Harvey - Age 11

Before

“We were..worried about Harvey . . School seemed to be a struggle. . . Reading had always been a battle.”

After

“ For his end of school exams, year 6 SATS, Harry exceeded the expectation. . . We have been thrilled with the results from Edutherapy both for Harvey and for us as a family. I would not like to think of us without it.”

“We were..worried about Harvey as he seemed slightly out of kilter.  School seemed to be a struggle.  We knew Harvey had a creative brain but he seemed much too disorganised, both in his work and in daily life. Reading had always been a battle with Harvey and he would avoid it as much as possible…

Very soon after our visit to Jane I started to get some positive feedback from school.  Harvey began asking for help when previously he would have sat silently.  His spelling and grammar improved.  For his end of school exams, year 6 SATS, Harvey exceeded the expectation and received level 5 marks – it had been expected for him to reach the average level of level 4. His football skills started to improve too and he seemed to sleep better.

Harvey’s transition into secondary school went without a hitch. I think this is because he has become much more able to organise himself and take care of his work. He gets to school on time and does his homework, all this without too much parental input.  The programme seems to have helped him grow into a decent young man.

We have been thrilled with the results from Edutherapy both for Harvey and for us as a family. I would not like to think of us without it.”

Marcus - Age 21

Before

“When I first came to Edutherapy, my son, Marcus was struggling to keep pace with his peer group”

After

“His employers are so pleased with him they want four more people ‘just like him’!”

“When I first came to Edutherapy, my son, Marcus was struggling to keep pace with his peer group… Soon after he started Edutherapy he scraped through the Common Entrance, to his delight…Marcus did a lot better at GCSE than those at his junior school who had been in the same academic sets or better sets than him.

A Levels were looking like a very big ask for Marcus but his dream was to go to a particular Russell group University. Somehow he managed to get B, C, C….Marcus was very disappointed as he needed much better grades. He retook Geography at his own insistence and without any tutoring and from a C he managed to get an A*….He got on a train and went up there to tell them how much he wanted to have a place there, which he was then offered. He had been on Edutherapy all this time.

Marcus started at the university which had always been his goal….and he loved it from the first moment…He played very hard his first two years but he always did the work asked of him. He had a very original idea for his dissertation and in the end he got a 2:1.

Within 4 days of graduating he went for an interview organised by an employment agency… The agency later took him out to lunch to find out more, because his employers are so pleased with him they want four more people ‘just like him’!

Marcus is constantly coming up with ideas for business plans for the company he works for, for the future, for his friends and for us too! He has a lot of positive energy about him and is a magnet to people. It seems that very few people don’t like him….It seems like he has come a very long way from the challenged little boy who lacked confidence, found life pretty tough and needed extra time for exams.”
